Parkway Custom Insurance Associates, Inc. is a community agency serving the needs of Ashe, Avery, Alleghany, Watauga, and Wilkes Counties. Parkway's primary focus is business insurance, but also tries to provide the full range of insurance products needed by individuals and businesses alike including homeowner’s, auto, umbrella, motorcycle, motor home, antique boats or cars, life, disability, group health and life, dental, vision, long and short term disability, workers compensation, business owners and commercial package policies, inland marine, builders risk, boiler and machinery, and commercial umbrella.

The business is owned and operated by Jan Noffsinger. Jan has been a resident of Ashe County and has worked extensively in the High Country for over 13 years. She has been an insurance agent since 1983. A graduate of the University of Florida, Jan also holds several professional designations including Certified Insurance Counselor, Certified Risk Manager, Certified Builders Insurance Agent, and Associate in Risk Management.

Kay Larson works for Parkway as a customer service representative. Kay has many years in several aspects of customer service including office management, billing, collections and marketing. Kay will assist Jan in resolving customer service issues, rating insurance policies, and client communications. Kay and her family live in Fleetwood where they enjoy raising Pasofino horses.

Jan Noffsinger has earned the designation Certified Insurance Counselor, awarded after strenuous study and passing five examinations, conferred by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. What does it mean to be a CIC?

The Certified Insurance Counselor(CIC) designation is a mark of distinction that represents a commitment to professional excellence and leadership within the insurance industry.

The 30,000 designated CICs across the country are recognized as among the best and most knowledgeable insurance practitioners in the nation. The formal training required to become a CIC includes 100 classroom hours and the successful completion of five comprehensive exams, with an annual update required to ensure that CICs maintain their edge as the most capable and current insurance practitioners in the industry.

Jan has also earned the designation Certified Risk Managers, conferred by Certified Risk Managers International, in association with the National Alliance For Insurance Education and Research. This designation indicates that your agent is knowledgeable in all areas of managing risks, hazards, and exposures and has completed five courses designed to provide in-depth knowledge about identifying, analyzing, controlling, financing, and administering operations risks. Each of 5 courses must be completed and an examination passed for each course in order to earn the designation. This designation further indicates Jan’s dedication to the insurance industry and to her clients.
